Over 200 Boys Got Abused In Choir Run By Pope Benedict’s Brother
Pope Benedict had one of the shortest run as a Pope and his sudden exit to the position still remains a mystery to a lot of people around the world. The curiosity is still there and this shocking news might give us an idea on one of the reasons why he suddenly gave up his powerful throne. An investigation has revealed alleged abuse ranging from beating to rape from 1953 to 1992. It was shockingly revealed that at least 231 children in a choir that was run by the former Pope Benedict’s brother, have allegedly been beaten and sexually abused for decades. This news is shocking to some but this kind of issue does exist and haunts the sacred Catholic churches all over the world.
The famous Catholic boys’ choir in Germany was condcuted by Pope Benedict’s elder brother, Georg Ratzinger, from 1964 to 1994 when most of the claimed abuses took place. The 1,000-year-old choir in Regensburg, Bavaria was involved into the massive sexual abuse scandal that's haunting the Catholic Church in 2010. Ratzinger shared that the alleged sexual abuse was “never discussed”.
Lawyer Ulrich Weber, who had been commissioned by the diocese to look into the cases, claimed at a press conference today that the result of his research includes 70 interviews with victims which were able to uncover abuse that took place from 1945 to the early 1990s.
“I have here 231 reports of physical abuse, 50 victims spoke of ten perpetrators”. -Lawyer Ulrich Weber
There are also several other German institutions have also been linked by the ongoing clerical abuse scandals. Most of the priests that were concerned are not expected to face criminal charges. It is because the alleged crimes took place too long time arise.
